Drakenstein Correctional Centre in Paarl, for long term pre-release inmates as part of their rehabilitation programme, from 2003 to 2009.

Mike is fluent in isiXhosa, Afrikaans and English.
Mike also plays an active role in various organisations:

Founder member and Chairperson of Dwars River Valley Athletics Club from 1999 till 2007.

Chairperson of Boland Athletics Cross Country since 2008.

Chairperson of Dwars River Valley Community Trust since 2016

Served on 2 School Governing Bodies for 7 years, 4½ years as Chairperson, from 1995 to 2002

Has completed 8 Cape Argus Cycle Tours from 2008 to 2018.

Boland Athletics Board Member since 2005.

Events Manager for Local, Provincial & National athletics events.

Mission Council Convenor at Pniel Congregational Church from 2004 to 2010. Member of Pniel Congregational Church Choir.

Active in soccer for many years as player, coach, & administrator.

Served on Athletics South Africa Adhoc Committee for 3½ monthsin 2014 to manage the administration of athletics after the ASA Board was suspended by the IAAF for serious breakdown of relationship between ASA Board members. This mission was accomplished with great success.
